This camp saw 3 of our Scouts completing their Chief Scout's Award so together with 2 who completed the requirements just before we left, we had 5 Chief Scout's Awards to present. This was done, amidst the rain, in the centre of the City of Luxembourg.
A visit to the
Military Museum in Diekirch proved the rainy weather we had experienced was
only a fraction of what Luxembourg could unleash on those staying in its
countryside.
The best form of travel however proved to be
Luxembourg's Railway. Obtaining a group rate which equated to £1.33
(80BeF) we took the train from Wiltz into the Capital, Luxembourg. An hour
journey each way with the train running to time, being clean and the staff very
helpful. This is a must if you visit Luxembourg. Use the train! However a day
of treking round the city, being awarded a Chief Scout's Award and a warm
railway carriage, proved to much for one scout...
I must take time to thank a few people, without whose support this trip would not have been possible:
Neil Martin (ADC Int.
[elect]) who shared the driving South then had to fly back to run Super Scout
in Scotland!
The Bank of Scotland, Cupar, who sponsored the troop's tartan neckers.
Danny Barr, Area
Commissioner, for inf. on Wiltz.
The local community
for generously giving cash during our fund raising periods.
Youth In Europe, Fife Council and the
Bruce Trust for the Grant assistance.
