We left Arnhem on 08 July and drove South through Holland and Belgium to reach Luxembourg. The trip took longer than anticipated as the laden vehicles could not make good time on anything other than a flat road. However we arrived safely at tea time, found our site (Wiltz has many scout camping areas) and made camp.

One of the first things to do
was to construct a dining shelter to seat the entire group! Luckily timber was
available through the site Warden, for a very reasonable charge. Some wood was
to return to Scotland with us whilst the rest provided good fuel for the final
day's fire, to dry off damp kit.
The site was good for our purposes but very basic with cold water taps and shower pipe close by and a few flush toilets (to serve a couple of hundred campers!!!) only a couple of minutes away.

The camp was self sufficient and a minor graze during pioneering could quickly be treated by our resident First Aid expert.

We were lucky to have our own transport with us and we made full use of this to travel around for visits and activities. However we did have a number of more local hikes through the hills. Needless to say the kilts and full uniform were dispensed with for these activities.
There was always time for music
and a song and after Jim's warm up on the pipes a new patrol activity was
born... multi-scout bagpipe playing! A Venture on the tune, two Scouts checking
the drones, two Scouts taking turns to blow the pipes and the remainder
operating the bag to keep the pressure up. The result... perhaps not
championship music, but still recognisable as Scottish.
