The Irish E Boat Liffey Challenge Race ’06

The inaugural E Boat Liffey Race took place on Saturday 26th August and was declared a great success by all those who participated.

Ten E Boats from CY&BC took part and the event was superbly run by Ian Sargent and crew.

The races consisted of windward – leeward courses set between the Matt Talbot Memorial Bridge (weather) and the Point Depot (leeward). The start / finish line was set opposite the “Bell”, approximately mid course.

The event consisted of four races, with the ten boats starting together, which made for some interesting close encounters on the water.

Racing was hard fought and no boat had a clear advantage. Every tack changed the position board and the leading boats were separated by seconds at the finish.

  • The first race was won by Smile E too from Escapade in second and Wyle E Coyote in third.

  • The second race was won by Eagle Eye with Easy Rider second and Wyle E Coyote third.

  • The third race was won by Escapade with Eagle Eye second and OctopussE third.

  • The forth race was won by Escapade with Eagle Eye second and OctopussE third.
