Races Round the Island, Clontarf "Nationals"
AGM t.b.a.
Netherlands Summer Event
I have
noticed several E-Boats around the Solent and Poole harbour and I am sure they
need to lead a more active lifestyle. As a crew we are not very experienced at
racing we are going to have a go this season, is anyone else up for the
challenge?

Round the Island Race
Saturday 20th June 2009
We’re rounding up E-Boats for a show of force at the 2009 JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race on 20 June. Gathering on the afternoon of the 19th in Shepards Wharf Marina in Cowes and followed by a few drinks and probably a curry or pizza. Start this year is 0850 so we’ll all get a lay in and a bacon sandwich. Warning – once you start entering this race you’ll want to keep on sailing it every year! A great day out and will be followed by more social ashore. Don’t forget to use your tankard for your 1st drink once ashore! Info at:

Sapphire Jewellers Irish E-Boat National Championships, Skerries Sailing Club,
16th – 18th July 2010
![]()
We held our first Irish National E-Boat Championships
in
July 2004, had successful events in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 &
2009 and are looking forward to our next Nationals in July 2010.
The Championships come to Skerries
for the first time. Previously held at Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club,
where they have a very competitive fleet of 24 E-Boats. The Skerries E
-Boat fleet is still in its infancy, but has being building over the
last few years to 7 boats.
The first E-Boat Irish National Championship was held in July 2004 at
Clontarf Yacht Club (CYBC). The CYBC fleet has strength in depth,
including current Champion, Pat Gilmour. Pat has previously won this
title, as well as the Squib class Championship. Also from Clontarf are
Peter O’Hara, past E-Boat and GP 14 Champion and Pat O’Neill, E-Boat
and IDRA 14 title holder.
The Skerries challenge will come from the Horrigan brothers,
Anthony and Christopher, who are showing very good speed this season.
Also in contention are; Paul Hick, ex Condor Catamaran National
Champion and Richard Peel, ex Condor and Hurricane title holder.
The Club is expecting around a 20 boat entry, with each boat being
sailed with a racing crew of 4. Racing is expected to be very close
with no clear favourite emerging. Paul Hick, Richard Peel and
Anthony Horrigan have all achieved individually 3rd.place overall at
the event over the last few years and all hope to improve.

The UK Club is going through a bit of a slack time at the moment, however the treasurer, Angus Stewart is trying to resurrect matters and bring some life back into the association. Any news I hear will be posted on receipt.
There are a now a number of active E-Boat owners sailing in the Netherlands. Summer event have been arranged by / for them. The dates for this year can be obtained from Ernst Visser e.boat@graphicanswers.nl. Ernst has supplied me with a couple of pages for the web site so have a look at Netherlands News.
